Outreach Activities

The Charlottesville Area Tennis Association (CATA) sponsors a variety of outreach activites to introduce tennis to segments of our community that do not otherwise have access to tennis instruction and equipment.

Roger Flint Mobile Tennis Program - CATA brings tennis to City and County recreation centers and the Boys & Girls Club recreational program in the summertime, with dedicated instructors who bring nets, balls, and rackets, plus snacks and drinks provided courtesy of Pepsi Bottling.  See News and Junior Programs pages for more details.

Westhaven Community After-School Program - CATA donates QuickStart Tennis equipment and volunteer instructors as an element of this program in the Westhaven housing community, operated by community volunteers Nancy Jo Krueger and Sareena Brown.  See News page for more details and pictues of the program in action.

GraceWorks - CATA donates QuickState Tennis equipment and provides training for this program, operated by Julie Baker, that brings a range of activities to Albemarle County elementary school kids who are at risk of being left out, isolated and disenfranchised.   Click here for more information on her program.

Greer Elementary School - CATA conducted an introductory tennis program for the 2008 summer school program.  All 60 kids received a QuickStart racket and foam ball to keep and use for practicing at home.  See News page for more details and added pictures of the program in action.

CHS Backboard.  We recently donated a backboard for the courts at Charlottesville High School.  It is available to the public.  See News for details.

We welcome inquiries from non-profit organizations who would be interested in partnering with CATA to include tennis in their youth programs.  Contact us through info@charlottesvilletennis.org
