TENNIS IN THE PARKS (TIP)

Tennis In the Parks (TIP) is an ongoing partnership between the National Recreation & Park Association (NRPA) and the United States Tennis Association (USTA) which provides financial resources and technical support to organizations that are committed to expanding and improving tennis programs, infrastructure and advocacy efforts in their local communities.

Participating Parks & Rec Departments, Schools (K-12), Colleges & Universities and Community Tennis Associations receive marketing support for programs, expert technical assistance from USTA, training support for coaches, facility construction and maintenance support and access to public facility assistance and funding. There are only 20 registered participants in Virginia. Both Albemarle County Parks & Rec and the Charlottesville Area Tennis Association (CATA) are registered TIP participants.

QuickStart Tennis Day at Darden Towe -- May 2008 

CharlottesvilleTennis.org will work together with Albemarle County and the City of Charlottesville to request assistance and funding from TIP to transform the four tennis courts at Darden Towe Park into a QuickStart Tennis Center for our community. The courts at Darden Towe are located off Stony Point Road (Route 20) in the Pantops Growth Area and are the only public park tennis courts east of the Rivanna River. The courts are convenient to downtown Charlottesville and are accessible by public transportation - CTS Route 10.

TIP initiative will make it possible for kids like James to play more tennis at Darden Towe.
